Starting Remote With Confidence
The digital nomad lifestyle and working remotely have been my reality for the past 5 years. During that time, I worked as a freelancer, I’ve been a remote employee and led a small global team.
These experiences taught me the mindsets, skills, communication styles and tools necessary to become successful at remote work. It was a lot of trial and error, but it also shows that remote work is a teachable skill.
Saying that you are a remote-first company isn’t enough
In 2022 I was part of “what I thought to be” a remote-first company. I learned that the skills and tools were right on point, but the mindsets and communication styles weren’t aligned with me and my lifestyle.
In that same year, I launched The Digital Nomads Daily Podcast where I interview digital nomads and ask about how they successfully live this lifestyle.
Work isn’t just about making money
I noticed that all podcast guests and people outside the podcast I talk to are looking for things that align with their values, especially when it comes to making money. For some people, this means a remote job and for others, a freelance career. Some people prefer to do both part-time.
In today’s world, work isn’t just about making money. It’s about how it makes us feel, the connections we make and how appreciated we feel.
Uninspiring, or even worse, negative workplaces aren’t attracting talents anymore.
I know this because for the same reason I left the company and when I did, many people were sad to see me go.
Co-creating a remote-friendly workspace
So after months of studying and thinking about how I could make an impact, I found my golden nugget – helping organizations create a remote-friendly workplace.
I have a voice in the digital nomad community and the Digital Nomads Daily platform is growing. Next to interviewing people daily, I have 7 years of experience in marketing and design.
Remote With Confidence isn’t a one-woman show though. Together with a remote work experts, we facilitate workshops to help all organizations seeking a remote-friendly workspace.
